7-Eleven & Yo-Ho’s Hit Craft Beer Gets a New Zealand Hop Twist

The limited-edition hazy IPA, developed with Yo-Ho Brewing, arrives October 13, 2026, with white-grape aromas and a juicy flavor.

7-Eleven Japan and Yo-Ho Brewing are giving their hit craft beer a new hop blend. “Gentei Kaizo UCHOTEN Aliens New World Hop” (限定改造 有頂天エイリアンズ New World Hop), the brand’s first limited edition, will reach 7-Eleven stores nationwide starting October 13, 2026, while supplies last.

The beer retains the original’s hazy IPA style, with its cloudy appearance, smooth texture and restrained bitterness. The difference is in the aroma. The original relies primarily on American-grown Idaho 7 hops for tropical notes; the new version turns to New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin for aromas reminiscent of white grapes and white wine. Yo-Ho’s brewers tested more than 30 hop blends before choosing the recipe.

The original UCHOTEN Aliens, developed jointly over two years, debuted in 2025. Shipments exceeded 1.1 million cans in its first three months, according to Yo-Ho Brewing.

The brewery’s suggested pairings are conveniently close at hand: 7-Eleven’s octopus, broccoli and basil salad, frozen Margherita pizza, and fish burger with tartar sauce.

The beer comes in a 350ml can at 6% ABV, with a suggested retail price of ¥368.50 including tax. Prices and availability may vary by store.

Yo-Ho Brewing Takes Craft Beer to the Konbini

Based in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Yo-Ho Brewing is a pioneer of Japan’s craft beer scene, best known for its Yona Yona Ale. Its partnership with 7-Eleven brings that brewing expertise to an everyday shopping stop.

Putting a hazy IPA on konbini shelves for under ¥400 offers a persuasive example of what the collaboration can achieve: a specialty beer that shoppers can try on an ordinary store visit.

The release comes as Japan’s October 2026 liquor tax changes bring renewed attention to the craft beer industry.
