At KFC Japan, Fried Chicken Gets a Bed of Rice
A new meal pairs the chain’s boneless chicken with seasoned rice, teriyaki sauce and a carton with a familiar takeout silhouette.

KFC Japan would like you to pick up a pair of chopsticks. On November 4, 2026, the chain will introduce the Kenta Rice Box (ケンタライスBOX), a meal that puts its fried chicken over rice rather than alongside it.
The rice, grown in Japan, is cooked with chicken stock and chicken meat. On top sit cabbage and sliced boneless Original Recipe chicken made from thigh meat, finished with a soy-based teriyaki sauce. The idea is a lunch or dinner that can be eaten from a single container.
And it is a handsome container. With its folded construction and bold red lettering on white, the carton recalls the Chinese takeout boxes familiar to American diners. It lends a little graphic flair to an otherwise practical meal.
The box starts at ¥690, including tax. A combo with a medium drink starts at ¥930, or ¥880 for the lunch version. Prices vary by location.
Available while supplies last, the meal will be sold at 62 stores across six prefectures. Participating locations include Koenji, Keio Sasazuka and Mitaka Ekimae in Tokyo; Isezakicho near Kannai Station in Yokohama; and Nishinomiya Kitaguchi in Hyogo.
