Lady Gaga Takes a Shift at FamilyMart in New Recruitment Campaign
A rare Western celebrity tie-up brings global star power to Japan’s konbini recruitment drive.

The pop star appears as a FamilyMart employee in a new TV commercial that began airing across Japan on Sept. 25, 2026. Dressed in a specially redesigned version of the chain’s new staff uniform, Gaga is shown working the register, stocking shelves and mopping the floor — all with her signature theatrical flair.
Gaga also revealed that she is already familiar with the chain. She said she loves FamilyMart and its food, and when asked whether she had tried Famichiki, the chain’s signature fried chicken, replied simply: “Delicious!” She also named sushi and cold soba among her favorite Japanese foods.
Speaking about playing a FamilyMart employee, Gaga said she wanted to combine the seriousness of work with the humor and fun of FamilyMart. She also praised the fashion-forward reinterpretation of the staff uniform.
The black-and-white commercial was filmed on a full-scale FamilyMart set built inside a Los Angeles studio. It ends with Gaga asking viewers in Japanese, “Famima de hataraku?” — “Want to work at FamilyMart?”
While Japanese convenience-store chains have previously worked with overseas stars including KARA, TWICE and SEVENTEEN, Gaga represents a rare collaboration with a major Western pop star.
